Those Flys aren't too bad. It was a close race (if you discount the 1st place finisher). Most of the cars were stock save for the wheels, tires and motor. The gearing was either 12:34, 12:36 or 12:38. In the 'old' days, when Fly was still solvent, we used to run Scaleys, Carrera and Fly together and Fly always seemed to be the preferred choice - in part, I think, because the motor and rear axle were semi-podded. The guys that took the time to fine tune a stock Fly were well rewarded. I think there is a another generation of racers that is learning what is involved to make a Fly/Flyslot run well. Just my opinion . . .
And for the record - the 1st place winner is the proverbial 'blind squirrel that occasionally finds a nut'!
