16'x6.5' 3 lane routed track. A section can be removed to make entire track an oval.
Made from 1/2in MDF, mounted on 1x3 and 2x4 frame.
Frame is designed to separate for storage in 3 sections.
29 cars to be sold with the track.
Track includes power supply and controllers

$800.00 for everything.

Must be picked up in Danville IL, no delivery.

List of cars: Almost all of these were club racing cars built to match specs. Many have swapped motors and after-market gearing, rear wheels/tires etc.

You have chosen the least likely way of getting it sold. Price the cars and track separately, and forget the MDF. You'll get a good response from HRW if you price everything within reason.

Pappy- I was in a hurry and didn't elaborate. I actually thought others with experience in selling slot car stuff were going to join in and advise.

I meant to say "Get the cars sold here first, and then sell the track, either here or locally." The main thing is to get the most you can for something with the least delay so you can move on to other tasks. Waiting for a situation that is very specialized (someone who wants track and all), will take much longer usually, so its logical to sell what the greatest number of people want first, then deal with the track.

I'll rain on this topic. Sell the cars and if you are lucky find somebody local who will "take" the track. I don't believe there is much market for a couple pieces of mdf with copper tape on them. I could be wrong!

The obvious problem with selling a track is finding someone in the local area or who can come get it. I've seen several track on HRW I found interesting but they have been quite a distance from Maine.

Our tracks are valuable to us, but don't travel well. When I'm no longer able to use mine they'll likely get cut up and carted to the local dump. They were assembled in place and it would take a lot of time and patience to get them out of the loft area of the barn in usable condition,

One of the things that makes slot cars such a niche hobby is the space needed for a track, which most people just don't have.

Thanks for the tips guys. I wasn't sure about how well tracks might sell, so figured it was worth a shot. (also makes the wife happier) I'll look at getting the cars listed separately soon.

The chance that you'll find an actual slot car racer to buy the track locally might be pretty slim. You might, however, find a church group, community club, boy scouts group etc or very casual, "Gee that might be neat" kind of slot newbie to take it if the price is right. Craig's list it. "Over $500 invested, yours for just $200 obo. Will throw in 4 cars free!" If someone offers you $100 & will come get it, IMO, take it. Better that than throwing it out.

I hope you can sell the track and you did the right thing posting it on HRW. if someone like us lived near you you'd be in luck. It's just a reality that most tracks don't find a local buyer or someone who can make the trip to get it.

Wood tracks are great, they're just like trees though. I have a big beautiful Maple tree in the backyard that's going to have one lifetime right where it is.

I counted 25 cars in your list. If you average $32 for them you'll make your $800. The NSR and Slot.it cars should help you do that. Check online to see what the cars you have are going for and ask what they're worth. You may have some cars that are no longer available that are worth more than what you paid for them.
