Motor plate tool

I am working on getting these mass produced. Maybe by me, or a small machine shop. don't know yet. Might even be an item that could be 3d printed and have steel inserts. Anyway. my prototype works great so far! I do a ton of scratch building, and any time I can save a few bucks on a build without compromising accuracy, im all in.
This little jem allows you to slip a piece of K&S 3/4" by 064 brass sheet in the back, and has a drill guide for standard motor plates. You can get quite a few motor plates out of one 12" section of brass. It does not allow for any axle tabs, but I use a lot of different off sets in my builds, so I didn't need that option. This will simply allow you to make a brass motor plate that can be soldered into any brass chassis project you may have.

LOL Of course Harry! Gotta clean up this prototype and start on some manufacturing. I have already made all the motor plates for the cars im building, in about 15 minutes. Still have enough brass strip left for guide tongues! I'll be sending you out a couple for test purposes shortly.
(Gotta have the skunkworks seal of approval)

I think you should use A-2 Tool steel, do all the machining then send out to get hardened
At 50 Rockwell a high speed steel drill bit would never wear it out

Neat idea Bob! I've had a different method for making motor plates, but I like your way better.
