I don't know if its still true, but my old HF compressor from years ago was crazy loud. See if you can get them to plug it in at the store. For that price, its worth some research.

I've been running an HF compressor since 2002. I've rebuilt a Chevelle, a Jeep Cherokee and lifted two Wranglers. I've used it every single day for casting. It lasted until 2016.

I'm VERY happy with the service I got from a $159 compressor after all this time. Say what you will, but I have had nothing but good luck with their stuff.

As for noise - mine is oil filled and is no worse than any compressor I've heard - meaning they are noisier than I like to be around, but not bad enough to live without one.

The little HF I have is fine, no louder than anything else I have heard.

For that price it can scream Beastie Boys and I would use it :)

Depending on what you have planned for it that compressor has a very low SCFM at 0.6. That nu tells you how much work a compressor is able to do.

Can't go wrong for a small comp I have a twin to the hotdog ( different stickers on it ) and it's the bees knees on my air brush. It can be a little loud but I turn up the stereo no big deal :banana-dance: a

Yes Mike, it's not suited for all tasks...but for resin/pressure tank operation it's more than adequate.

And inflating air mattresses for slot car racers who visit :)

David has the important point here- My old one was oiless, and they are always louder (see Sears from 30 years back), so that explains it all. I finally went with a huge 240v 2-cylinder unit from HF, and it is so much quieter, even my wife doesn't mind it. The guy who used to work for me had a little pancake from Bostich, and it cost him an arm and a leg. It was loud, too. Once again, oiless.

If a compressor is loud you might consider buying a long air hose and putting it further away. I have a 4 CFM 2 gallon compressor that I sometimes use with an air brush, it can be used with an impact wrench, but it is marginal for that application.

I guess you could call this compressor a screamin' deal!
