Tire Razor for Slot Cars Only....?

Postby Gameover » Tue Mar 24, 2015 6:59 pm

Had to put the finishing touches on my sons pine wood derby car tonight. As i was looking for tools to complete the task i noticed my tire razor sitting there. So i got an idea :). Lets true the tires for the car. So i figured out the artin stocker axles had a big enough diameter to fit the wheels so we threw them on the razor and sanded them down. Yahoo. Will let you all know how he does tomorrow.

I'll get on the soapbox for a minute: You did let him work on the car, correct?

Dang right he did the entire thing. Except mount the tires on the razor. :)

Good DAD! You get a ribbon in my book!

Great idea on the Razor...we had to do it by hand in the old days.

Oh and polished the axles. He let his uncle do that. He cut it out painted it. Glued the weight in. I drilled the holes. Didnt want him to drill into his hand. He sanded the body. Sanded the tires. Pounded the axles in.

Ah, you should have called me...I won three years straight with a car I built and my kid did it twice. My dad would show me how to do something and I'd go do it. I graduated to taping my stripes as you can see.

My original cars in order of year (bet you can't tell I LOVED Grand Prix racing!):

My son's (missing his "Herbie" F1 car):

I won best paint in the "Dad's Division" with this:

Of course, I beat all of the other Cub Scout leaders in our "Dad's Division" with this:

The Chevelle is pretty much hollow inside to hit 5 ounces.

Can't tell I love Pinewood Derbys...can you?
