Screw Threads

Which thread do the SlotIt grubb screws use: M2x40 or M2x45?

I have never seen that information listed. If I had a metric thread gauge I could check on that. Some of the M2 screws out there a rather low quality and the socket will round off very easily, even if you use a torque limiting wrench. If you want high quality screws at a reasonable price try the ones from Slot Car Corner.

I am not trying to buy screws but the appropriate drill and tap. I should have explained.

The M2.0 x .40 is the tap size, the drill bit you need is 1.6mm or the #53 will work...

The M2.5 x .45 is the tap size, the drill bit you need is 2.05mm or the #47 or #46...

Working with plastic isn't a big deal, if you go to alum or steel be careful, buy split point drill bits
