Partial Scenery Redo (FINISHED)

Postby dw5555 » Sat Jan 12, 2019 3:29 pm

After 3 yrs of redoing this end of the track I've finally got around to putting the landscaping back in. I had this POS Styrofoam lying around and I hate it but you use what ya got. It obviously carves easy but those little Styrofoam balls get everywhere. I have 3 areas to do but this is the biggest. I only raised it because I want to incorporate an H.O size building into the track so I needed to get it away from the track to make the scale a little less noticeable. Again not ideal but again ya use what ya got. I got the foam rough cut and I brushed on a layer of Plaster of Paris. It actually covered a lot of the seams with the 1st coat. I'll let that sit for the night and get another coat on tomorrow.

You might look into using plaster cloth, that is not as messy as having to spread plaster over everything.

The elevations will add lots of character to the track, you can see what difference it will make at this very early stage!!!

Look forward to the continued magic of your mountain building!!

This is good enough for government work. Plaster is dried so now to throw some paint on it.

1st layer down. Let this dry and then do a fill in and more texture. Even got a layer of gravel on the hilltop for the factory.

Finally done. I can keep it intact until May when the grandkids come up for their week visit. After that no guarantees. :o To think this was all done just to add the H.O. scale building at the top of the hill to make it look less like it doesn't belong.
