Had to post this. it turned out pretty cool I think. I have a video on FB to share. I mounted on a 2.5 rpm motor so it makes big circles over the track!.

BITD used to pilot my Verti-bird around my AFX track. Your setup reminded me of that.

Thanks all! this was a hoot to build, and for sure out of the norm for even me! I post my builds on FB, and have been asked about my motor choices for powering up some of my animated props. I use 110 volt low RPM motors from animated Christmas yard ornaments found at the goodwill and dollar store on sale after the season. they are very strong, and usually weather proof, and turn at 2.5 rpm's. Another good source is any old cheapo hotdog roller machine. I use them a lot at my house for race day, and when the gears quit (and they always do) the motor can be salvaged and used to power up any thing you choose. that's what is powering my GB. mount under the track, and bring the drive up through the table. easy peasy. My flagman on the Cherokee point is driven by the same motor with a disc bolted on top that is bent to make his arm go up and down. quiet and effective animation for cheap! I am currently working on a totally animated pitrow using one of these motors. it will use a magnet on the end of an arm to activate pit crew people on thin metal bases. hope this helps you guys with some fun projects.

Bob
