New table build

Postby BigSky109 » Sun Jan 01, 2017 3:42 pm

Hello, I am new to slot car racing. Bought it for my Grand Kids and myself to have fun. Found out that my Son-In-Law likes racing when we spent about 2 hours on the floor racing each other. I have many plans but here is my first Slot Car table. Makes it a lot easier on the back to sit in stools and race.

Table is made with "2x4 Basics Kit" and wood bought at the local store. Found "IVY GREEN" indoor/outdoor carpet and glued it down to table. Surface wood is particle board 5/8th thick. I had to use 3 sheets to get the overall dimension of 5x9 feet. All the rest of the material is 2x4's cut to length.

Carpet was $2.40 per linear foot comes in 6ft width, really cheap around $20 for the grass look.

Just went down to the local store to buy 1 car. LOL....... Ended up finding the Mario Brothers track set. It was hard to pass up for $40.00 for 2 cars, 2 controllers, 17ft of track, another power supply. I was going to buy an expansion set anyway but this fits perfectly with the set I have. I re-arranged the track and eliminated the cross track. Now I have 1 long corner and 3 banked corners with 2 very long straights for speed. It is getting to be a ton of fun. I didn't use the loops and stored the left overs in the box. Like I said......I was going to buy 1 car for $19.00 and ended up with all that for about the price of 2 cars. SCORE!!!!!!
