I shoot lacquer from a HVLP (what is used for a car) sprayer to seal it up as soon as each piece is routed. MDF sucks up moisture (or anything else) like crazy, and my shop can get a bit clammy when its cold and its been raining for days and days. I spray it top and bottom, and the slots, too, but if you do that, you must sand the slot interior just a bit to eliminate the raised MDF graining that happens even from lacquer that dries in 30 seconds. It also helps lane color paint stick better and needs less paint to be seen, and scenery items stick to it better.

No, I did not seal it. You are the first person I know of that has done so. :) I might do it this time though as "lesson learned".

Slots always sanded. Plus painted. They were protected.

Well...

Bummer the ol' Show Me has to go away...

But things are what they are, and looking forward to seeing the new and improved Show Me...

Hopefully I can make it out there again sometime and turn some laps on that one as well... :D

Wow Harry,

That brings back some braiding memories. Looks like you'll be utilizing those SCC lane color distribution system bottles again  . Looking forward to seeing how you do on your own  !

Yours truly,

Not yet. Track itself still there...I was "told" I needed help so my assistants arrived today.

A couple of them are taking the teardown pretty well...

Oh, you had to use bribery huh? My grand-kids clean out my little refrigerator when they come by and their dad's help with the keg.
