I shoot lacquer from a HVLP (what is used for a car) sprayer to seal it up as soon as each piece is routed. MDF sucks up moisture (or anything else) like crazy, and my shop can get a bit clammy when its cold and its been raining for days and days. I spray it top and bottom, and the slots, too, but if you do that, you must sand the slot interior just a bit to eliminate the raised MDF graining that happens even from lacquer that dries in 30 seconds. It also helps lane color paint stick better and needs less paint to be seen, and scenery items stick to it better.
