This sounds very good!

Make it as wide as you can allow - I personally believe 2:1 is the 'Golden Ratio' for the classic short track oval (as space allows). The wider the track, the larger the diameter of the turns - the better for driving, modulating, and controlling the cars - which makes competitive races more fun. Low banking also sounds great - should replicate the real short-track ovals perfectly.

Also, building as large as you are (16 feet), you could easily accommodate four lanes - which you might consider - if the track is built as you describe, the track itself will compel racers to show up!

I will be watching this space - keep the build pics coming!

Thats about the same marshaling area i have Dave, It works great, and i have drivers stations spaced all around the track.
evens on one side, odds on the other. that way there is always someone near a corner, even when there are just a couple of racers.

Did you hear they found Jimmy Hoffa? He was covered in little bitty slot car body parts. And socks. And carburetor screws.

How did I miss this! WTH, this is going to be a nice redesigned track, can you say drift? Well, Dave I had the honor of you racing the flying eggplant Porsche RSR on the old track before it was kaput. ;)

Cheers, Thompson

Is that the loud noisy A/C unit that died? Home Depot has some excellent 120v units. I have two in a steel building 40x40x12 feet tall, and they handle the air temp and humidity when its 100 degrees and 70% humidity outside. I think they were about $150, end of the summer sale, maybe 5 years ago.

Now that was a slick idea to re-purpose part of the old track into shelves! I like it Dave! :)
