Thanks Todd....A bit of info on lane length of the 6 modules....using this pic...
Image
The outside lane is 78' the center is 76.16' and the inside is 74.5'
I figure 479 feet of braid which includes the pigtails for the connections...
I was thinking of these for the braid connectors..I will need 10 pair..

I appreciate that Bibb....and it's official also that I got to lay down the bucks to buy magnetic braid ...The track owner wants to pull those people in with the magnet 1/32 cars..
Cool here is the place where it will be set up...To the left of the Blue King... It will be between it and the dragstrip...WOW a place to try to promote in-home-race-tracks :banana-dance:

You know this is the only track I have seen slo-mo drag video on youtube....One thing about these dragsters is the detail of the cars.....and the motor building...fanatical!!!!

Since the track owner wants a magnetic braided track to pull the 1/32 cars (with magnetic Training Wheels) into the store!!! Has anyone used the 3/16 braid Jim Honeycutt from Texas offers?
Another Idea to ween these people off magnets ''and learn to drive" would be to ''surprise them" and add regular braid to a section!

There is going to be about 38 feet between power taps is this too much distance? I will have the power supply on a self contained cart to roll under the track and plug into the 3rd section joint..

And have a "removable-portable -bolt on" 3 foot long drivers panel that will have an 8 foot run of wires to the power supply (cart).. does this sound doable? This 8 foot bundle of wires could be sections of 16 gage extension cord, zip tied together to keep it neat...

Maybe have the power supply cart, and driver station incorporated just needs to inaccessible to children in the store? A lot to think about...
I even considered 3 independent drivers panels that could be mounted in different locations around the track like turn marshals...

Got the braid in the other day from ("132slotcar.us" CO-2005 DS Concept Magnetic Track braid 5.4 mm x 1.1 mm x 100 meter) This stuff is thick .042 with my micrometer...The Mag guys ought to like this stuff...
Routed the braid recesses and primed the surface and got the first coat on thismorning....Using Glidden ...
Porch & Floor Oil/Alkyd Polyurethane Gloss Enamel.....

The router jig for braid I made 25 yrs ago...
Image

The first 2 pieces work great.....Run a tack rag over the track and clean the tires with mineral spirits and the car sticks like glue...

Using contact cement to apply the braid takes time, so as each section is completed the track grows bigger...
Killing time waiting for the contact cement to dry, run a few laps...Actually a lot of laps...The foam tires on this 1/24 car gets a pretty good grip after a cleaning with mineral spirits, then after a minute of running, traction slightly goes away.....Love the SS..... Image
