A fitting send-off

Postby SuperSlab » Sun Sep 22, 2019 11:41 am

We had a farewell party/race at Perry's place yesterday. Clearly saying a temporary goodbye to Luf was the main reason for the event. As far as I could ascertain, the next priority was eating (it was a most excellent potluck) and lastly... oh yes, there was a bit of racing as well!

Some images:

In typical annual Christmas race style (Perry has been hosting our annual Christmas bash for years now: we typically get more than 30 racers so it requires a lot of discipline to get TWO rounds of racing done on his two tracks!), Perry had to get things moving properly, otherwise... No soup for you!!!!

But he did make up for it by being a wonderful host! PPP: Perry the Pizza Person!

There was food for sure!

Everybody was happy... except Mike, for whom Roger's banana-bread specialist wife had the following message:

Oh yes, there was some racing as well... Perry's two tracks:

Luf looking happy as usual, especially when racing slot cars!

And showing to us he can do it with his eyes ALMOST closed!

But the main thing was the sendoff: some presentations:

First the book:

And then the car:

The message with the car:

Luf: the bon vivant with the bottle of Scotch he also received... and in true Luf fashion, promptly shared!

And finally: Luf with his devoted Vancouver fans:

We are going to miss you Luf: you are a very, very special person and I count it a blessing that I can call you a friend.
