I'm not sure I understand the question. Why not use the roller to match the rest of the track, assuring success? Anything else means you may be having to come back to it and accommodate things you don't know about now. As for grip, new paint will always take a while to cure, and even longer to pick up enough wear and rubber from racing to match the rest of the track consistently. Brush marks are the enemy, and unless you have a lot of expertise with brush painting, they are hard to avoid. I say keep it simple and just roll it.
