I am saddened to see a classic road course go ghost....hopefully the track was evacuated before the storm hit.
But excited to see what comes after....

Paul - I got out just in time lol!

Matt - We are actually moving back to the Palmer Divide area in Monument. Long story.

However, either this or a new track will emerge from the dust over the summer once the house is sorted.

Looks like an F5 blew through. Sorry to see PDR 2.0 (or 3.0?) die an ignoble, but temporary death. I don't envy all the moving fun you will be enjoying. Funny how wives think that redoing kitchens and bathrooms takes priority over the new track development. Glad I have pictures pre-tornado. Anticipation of new layout is half the fun. Enjoy!

Planning is always part of the fun.

Jon - It has actually been 3 years. And, all the stuff in storage was still packed, so that was easy.

RMS looks like this in boxes:

Oh my. Must be hard to do something like this after so many hours of work went into scenery. I have a large model railroad, and have been dreading the day we move. I guess though you get the thrill of planning and rebuilding again to make up for some of the pain.

It was a great looking layout. I will be looking forward to the next one

Cheers

Typically the saying "Practice Makes Perfect" would apply................., in your case all I have seen is perfect.

So I know you have the perfect down, will look forward to the noodling you have done with the thought " hmmmm, if I could change anything"..............

Maybe a trip to the new house is in order? I'll handle the grill while you build.

Matt - actually further away lol!

Harry - that is a deal!

Well, the PDR shall be no more as it once was. She didn't want to come apart nicely and the Durhams worked as advertised.

While sad, I've recycled all the lumber and parts I could, boxed up the figures, trees, and buildings.

This track taught me a bunch of things. I really loved it. But, it is time to move on!

So, here's a peek at the possible next iteration:

Probably doing a D oval with an integrated road course. Stockers will run CCW and Trans-Am and sports cars go CW. The sports cars would then use about 2/3 of the oval too.

Sad see the track come down, but sounds like a promising new track is coming.
I like the idea of the oval / road course combo.
