"New" routed track in E. Central Illinois

A bit more progress the last couple weeks...

Decided to replace the braid with tape from Slot Car Corner, so we had to re-rout the lanes.









We got the surface over to Steve's place, and he reassembled the parts. All joints filled with a little Durhams, and then painted. This is a textured paint. I forgot the name, but it's got a sandy surface, not unlike 1000 grit wet-or-dry paper.





Got the lanes painted, using Harry's ketchup bottle trick...




Then, this week, we've spent time running wires in preparation for the braid to arrive!



Braid arrived Thursday, but tonight's race night so this track will sit quietly for another few days....

Perimeter fencing is up. We used corrugated plastic sheet, available at Home Depot. Easily cut, attached with screws and finish washers.

There will be a few interior walls put up, mainly to keep cars that deslot from going back across oncoming traffic. Getting real close to racing though!!

Got a few more tweaks done, and she's ready to race! In fact, we'll be racing here on the 17th of June. So far, we've put down over 1,000 laps in testing...
