I use woodland scenic rock molds' they make all kinds. Also to get the strata look. I use hydrocal for the main rocks. I also like the sheets woodland scenic sells that you just wet and layover your forming. Then I mix hydrocal to pancake batter thickness and apply with a paint brush' you want to apply it thick and the brush will give you nice lines in your rocks. You can do alot this way working quick. then wash your brush out and start over. Indybob

Impressive work all around. There is a great deal of planning on this one to say the least.

Like the 3 lane approach as well. Instead of trying to crowd the space with another lane, you built it around the current group you have and that is something we rarely see. Hope others see this approach and think about it before planning.

I haven't been working on track very much lately as I have some home and vehicle maintenance that needs attending. I did get layout braided and after I raced around it for awhile I decided to replace 2 sections of track. one being the 1 squiggly coming out of corkscrew and the other hairpin turn at far end of layout and it did improve racing and flow. I like it so much better.. Live and learn. I am not a fan of squiggles anymore :) But anyway, I am satisfied with results.. Weathered track some and got my Track Mate dead strip installed and up and running.. Like it a lot..
I would like to purchase a few Nascar 1/32 cars but with my limited knowledge of 1/32 cars, I was hoping that some of you might have a few suggestions thanks

Your track looks really nice. I love the backdrop. Is it painted?

As for Nascar, I assume that you mean the more modern COY or COT cars. Carrera, Scalextric and SCX all made them although I believe production has ceased in all of these companies for some time. That means you are looking for used or old stock cars. They are all good but of the three, the Scalextric cars which had sidewinder motor configurations were the quickest by only a little. Carrera's cars were inline and heavy. SCX cars were inline, handled the nicest of the bunch IMHO. But the factory couldn't make up its mind which motor to use and changed back and forth between RX42B and RX42 motors. The COY cars with the 42B were the quicker between the them and the COT cars. SCX Nascars seem to be the most readily available of the three brands. I think currently the SCX cars offer you the most bang for the buck and the most variety if you are starting out fresh in acquiring the Nascar line.

Nor Cal Thanks for info.. Yes, backdrop is painted. I used acrylics on 1/8 in hardboard, primed with white primer to get a little tooth on the hardboard. A variety of blues and Whites.. Bob

With respect to the original question about plaster you need to be aware that it does not keep for long once the container has been opened, the same thing holds true for cement by the way. Plaster will pick up moisture from the air and partially set, making it useless.
