Hurricane Sandy is just off our doorstep here in the Tidewater, and strangely looks like she's going to veer off and spare us. Philadelphia looks like its going to have a bad weekend.

Yeah, it's heading right for us. We're about 40 miles inland in NJ. I'm more concerned about wind than the rain.

Guys, it missed us almost completely so far, and that's bad news for you. We had an 80% chance of tropical rains last night and today, and we haven't seen a single droplet so far. The wind has kicked up, but its half the strength they predicted for us. The storm must have slowed its movement as well as veered away. That means the duration of the storm where it hits will be longer.

Quick! Rout another track that can be stored until you need it, and get them to braid it while they are in the mood!

I just had another look. NJ is looking at 65mph wind when it hits Tuesday.

This is beginning to feel like someone is playing a practical joke on us... Now there are blizzard warnings on both sides of the mountains as far down as 70 miles from me, and I'm only 40 miles from open water. The hurricane has made contact with the arctic cold front that has come across the country in the last few days.

So, that's a hurricane hitting NJ, NYC, etc, and widespread flooding all up and down the Eastern seaboard, and now a blizzard that looks like it will cover W. VA all the way down the mountains to more than halfway across VA. Oh, and there's a massive storm at sea behind the hurricane out on the Gulf Stream. Woof.

Let's see, it's 53 days until 21 December...... :?

Actually looks like the weather predictions were right, that this winter was going to make up for last year. If you're someplace that is even questionable as far as safety goes, get out! Things can be replaced, people can't.
We're even supposed see effects from it clear back here in NE Indiana.

It is 21:11. There has been 5.5" of rain at BWI Airport. Most of it is my yard in Annapolis.
I damned the back door and the water is almost at the top of a 1x6" board.
Luckily I had a race Sunday and was allowed to leave the track at the Church.
I don't transport in an open trailer in the rain.

Just been watching a bit on TV this morning,it looks pretty wild and it sounds like it's going to just sit there for the next 3 days, the cold front from the North just won't let it move on. Keep your heads down and stay safe fellas. All of your mates down here in Australia and NZ send you our best!!
