USAC in the Fall...In Missouri!

I updated the photo at the top with a shot of USAC Stock cars crawling through the Missouri countryside.

Mid America Raceway was in Wentzville, MO about an 1 and 1/2 hours from here. Famous for Drag racing along with USAC and SCCA.

Funny how many great road courses came and went in the '60's and '70's in the Midwest. I raced at Wentzville in SCCA a couple of times. Fun track and really scenic.

THAT is the kind of racing I wish they still did....big sedans, twisting roads, one of the reasons I like the old Carrera Pan Americana so much. And of course the Fall foliage just makes it that much better!

I love the old tracks like this.
But I look at all those trees and think how insanely dangerous it is to race on tracks like this.
We won't see tracks like this anymore.

I grew up around that track. I got to see the Camel GT series there and met both David Hobbs and Paul Nueman there in the late 70's. It was a grand old track.

When I first opened this thread the picture at the top really caught my eye. Excellent picture. My track is modeled with a fall theme and that pictue is one of the reasons why. Love it!

If anyone knows where to maybe finds actual prints of these kinds of photos that woul dbe great. Would love to frame some of these to go in the mancave.
