Just watched "On the Beach" for the first time in years. For those that don't know it: 1964 Post WWIII, the U.S. and USSR have pretty well cooked the Northern Hemisphere and the only place left (for the moment, radiation is coming!) is Melbourne OZ. Fred Astair has bought himself a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza and races it in a "last fling" Grand Prix. The race was apparently filmed at Riverside and "down under". Among other cars in the race: Porsche 356, Allard, Corvette, 300SL Gullwings, D Type, XK 140 (?) coupe. They total a bunch of classics in the race including 2 356s and the XK coupe. Worth it for the race, rest of the movie is kind of a downer. Near the end Ava Gardner is shown driving a RHD Healy 100 (4 or 6 not sure, sountrack sounds like a V8) and they have a shot after she parks looking from the back of the car, through the windscreen with a great shot of the dash. Obviously much more to the story but thought most of the folks here would like the cars. It's in several different places on YouTube.
