Rob, recipe or I'm banning you! Oh does that look good!

Here we go! This is the recipe for the full sized cheesecake. The one in the picture was just for my wife and I so its roughly half-sized.

Rob's Cranberry Pecan (kinda sorta) Cheesecake

Crust:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans (actually pulverized, I used a blender)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold butter
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Filling:
2 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoons pulverized pecans
1 tablespoon finely chopped dried cranberries
1 teaspoon vanilla

Technique:
Use a 9 inch springform pan, well greased, and push the crust mixture as far up the sides as you can (more than 2 inches), while leaving the bottom well covered. Pour the filling in, making sure of an even spread. Arrange pecan halves in rings around the pan on top of the filling, alternating with whole dried cranberries. Using a rubber spatula, bend the excess crust over the topping, in the manner of a galette, pressing the crust onto the filling and topping. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Cool one hour on a a wire rack, Run a sharp knife around the inside of the springform pan, then release the springform and refrigerate overnight. Before serving, let it come close to room temp before slicing. Make the servings small. Coma to follow the meal...

Here's a first-

Our first drink recipe, and it is completely original, I invented it... mostly.

The basis for this creation is the Arnold Palmer â„¢, which is half iced tea, half lemonade. He liked it at home and in 1960, he asked a bartender at a big golf club tournament to make it for him, was overheard by a lady in the bar and asked to have one, too. Its been around and popular in hot weather for so long it has several regional alcoholic versions and a half-dozen names. Tasty drink and very nice in hot weather.

I needed to make a jug of drinks for 90 degree weather, in Virginia humidity, which is in my experience in decades of both locations, equal to South Louisiana in August (otherwise known as the seventh level of mosquito hell).

I made a big jug of strong iced tea, stirred in a packet of Crystal Light Lemonade (which is very good), and gave it a nice dollop of maraschino cherries and juice. Then, for each drink, I used the formula: over ice, 1/3rd vodka, 2/3rds tea mixture.

What made this happen is that last year I developed a crazy beer allergy (beer- my 2nd favorite earthly delight, right after my wife's uh, attentions). When its slotburger time, LSU football time, or just fun time cooking BBQ for the neighbors, this has become my mainstay beverage.

I originally used Ft. Polk, LA as an example of awful heat/humidity/ mosquito problems, but it isn't far enough south to be a good example. Just in case somebody did their infantry basic there and might point out the error in geography. Maybe this post won't vanish as fast as the previous one.

Went to the Subway my daughter runs for lunch today.

She made great custom sandwiches for us...

Is there cheese and bacon leaking out the sides with jalapenos and habeneros eating their way through the upper bun? How about half a cow ground up and burned crisp on the lower bun? Tradition!
