The damned little bastards inject an enzyme into your tissue that makes you unable to digest beef. I had no idea how much beef I routinely eat until I couldn't have it anymore (it takes 7 years to get past the sh*t). Several years ago, my wife managed to get bitten by a Lime Tick, and it cost us a huge amount of money to get treatment. Until I was nabbed by the Lone Star bastard, I never had troubles in the woods. It has to do with getting old and a metabolic change. With all the time I spent in the woods as a cross-country surveyor years ago, and being a country kid before, I never thought twice about ticks (easy to get off), but we always had no-see'ems, redbugs, mosquitoes, etc. We are hoping that our bounty of turkeys will gobble up all these nasty things. I am so sick of smelling Backwoods OFF! on myself.
