By the way, this is a nice idea: pick up a model and invite people to mod it and then send to one person for testing. And of course, publish an article about the changes/mods people did. I would like to see one or two articles per year about different models.

This was one of my favorite articles, so much so that I bought one of these cars just to mod after reading it. I have one question though -

If you replace the original motor with an M/T SL-1 or other smaller motor, how do you modify the drivetrain to deal with the size difference - or is this a nonissue?

The change to the MT-1/H&R Jack Rabbit, or the new SCC TUNA would be an easy swap. Just trim the motor shafts.
