In my humble opinion the greatest driver, ever, in NASCAR. Check his winning percentage and realize that he and the Wood Brothers never went to many of the secondary and small tracks of that era where Petty had a lot of his victories. One last thought, for several years David was "The King of Darlington" especially in qualifying.

Sad news indeed. I got a photo of Mr. Perason while attending the FORD 100th Anniversary of Racing at Laguna Seca during the 2003 Monterey Historics.
That very same # 17 Torino was right there along side other classic FORD race cars. One of, if not the very best, old school stock car drivers.
