Yep - I would add to 'drown in your own sweat' until around 3.00pm when you have to dodge lightning, hailstones and torrential rain. That is what we tend to deal with most 'hot' summer days.....

That bit about NZ being covered in sheep, well the populataion of sheep has declined that it is now dairy cows that are the predominant beast.

The main danger here now is being knocked down and maimed by a tourist driving a camper van while they look for the local freedom campsite.

Actually, we see Brokenwood here, and our image of NZ is seriously stilted as a result. Who knew C&W music made it to NZ???? My friends in NZ never mentioned what music they listened to, and now they are gone walkabout (2 years), family and all, in a caravan on the South Island, working in vineyards on mountain terraces. They lived in Hamilton before, and worked in Auckland. He had a taxi service.

We almost lost them a few years back, when an earthquake seriously threatened to toss the whole mountain, vineyard and all, into the ocean. I can't imagine the terror of grading with a bulldozer on a terrance on the side of a mountain, and feeling a major earthquake rumble up under you.

yep we have had our share of big quakes over the last few years
the Kaikoura quake ruptured 21 fault lines at the same time
made some major changes to the landscape and coast line

That would not be fun....Christchurch is still suffering from that devastating quake....in fact all of NZ is prone to shaking.
There has been a major move by the authorities to make sure all buildings are quake safe, especially multi storey ones...some are strengthened and some are pulled down.
It is a bit of a crisis. Most NZers though, live in single story boxes made with timber framing which will flex but not break.

I think you are searching for that true nectar of the Gods...Vegemite,.... as opposed to that yuk stuff called Marmite.

Vegemite spread on white bread toast after a good smear of butter be a true gourmet delight.

I'll second that. And Marmite is proof that yeast is for breads and only to be used in very small quantities. YUCK!

And I must add, Tim-Tams are what chocolate was invented for.
