While I'm certainly glad you didn't go with the all to common Chebby engine swap, I am also kinda sad the li'l old flathead came out. That said, I understand the need for putting in a V8 as well.... :auto-driving: :auto-checkeredflag:

Its back at home now, and getting used daily to work and back. Sorting out all the little bugs that come from a project of this magnitude. Nothing big really. It drives very well, and is faster than it needs to be. here are a few updated pics.

new mill running good.

The stance is up in the front a little, till the new springs settle in. I might drop her a couple more inches then if need be. but for now, it drives like a new one, and is a ton of fun! Final specs are as follows.

1998 Ford ranger front frame graft.
power disc brakes
power rack and pinion steering.
aluminum high flow radiator.
360 C.I. LA Dodge motor.
Edelbrock 600 cfm 4 barrel
stainless steel headers into 30" smitty's glass packs.
727 trans with B&M convertor and shift kit.
billet tilt steering column and banjo wheel.
B&M Star ratchet shifter.
8" 3/4 rear with 3:55 posi gear set.
custom built driveshaft (by me).

Its your choice, of course Bob, but the way it sits right now is dead perfect for that truck and all the others of that type in that era.

You haven't mentioned paint. Want suggestions? Hate suggestions? C'mon, pleeeeze, Bob? Let us dream a little! I promise I won't reach back in my history and suggest flowers, birds, and peace slogans! I already did that on a '59 Cadillac hearse, anyway (49 years ago).

Speakin' of which, do you happen to have the cruciform Dodge emblem/trim for the nose? They are easy to make once you have the "Dodge" lettering, if not. As far as that goes, I'll bet there are guys who reproduce it. They were made of aluminum, and kind of "clipped" on the louvres (and there were several patterns according to fanciness and year of production). I have kind of "landed" on 1944 (possibly a rare '43, but all of them from '39 to '47 were very much the same), for your wonderful truck. Is that close to right?
