A friend of mine are going on a roadtrip along Classic Route 66 and he is asking for info on slotcarshops worth visiting on the trip. Other slotcar related thingis are of interest as well as Classic car related places. He is a fan of the TV-show American Picker, so that is of interest too. All tips will be past on to him. Or maybe i'll make him sign up as a member, hmm.
Kind regards
Tomas aka Indianen

What part of 66? It starts in Chicago and ends in LA

But a real part of the mother road is only a mile from my house in Missouri

Hold on Guys :angry-tappingfoot:
We have a Route 66 too, runs right by my house in Nashville Mi. :auto-nascar:
Take it South down to Highway-12/66 head west to the windy City
Good luck finding any Hobby Shops anymore, they can't compete with the on line stores. :occasion-xmas:

The closes one to me is Battle Creek, ten years ago they had a track set up in there shop. :violence-stickwhack:
Now days the only Slot Cars they sell are the new Tomy/AFX stuff and some lower budget cars. :teasing-blah:
Not one 1/32 car in the whole store. :handgestures-thumbdown:

Haven't been there, but there's a shop in Bloomington, Il.: https://www.facebook.com/pg/MidAmericaR ... e_internal .

For 1:1 stuff, Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Il. They recently had a massive fire, so not sure about hours or if they've reopened.
You might be interested in the National Museum of Transportation near St. Louis. Lots of trains, some cars including a Chrysler Turbine and a James Darren custom.
Can-Am Cars Ltd. in Fenton might be worth a stop for racing stuff.
Info on all of the above can be found on Google.
And there's a kitcthy antique mall in Livingston, Il. Look for the giant mouse out front.
