Our friends down the road invited us out to see the latest project and what a very unique one it is.

46 Chevy Stylemaster (Business Coupe) This is a rare beauty.

First we need a plan.

500 bucks and a case of beer had this one saved :)

Sure is fun to sit around a good old shop and watch a rat come to life.

I thought rat rods were strictly a way to salvage unrestorable cars. This hulk looks damned good. They are not really going to do a belly-dragging, primer paint rat rod are they?

By the way, "Stylemaster" is new to me. Have you ever seen that before? Before I go looking it up, I just wondered.

Okay, I looked it up. The "Stylemaster" was the bottom line trim level, with "Fleetline" above it with more chrome. The Stylemaster was offered in the full line the same way the Fleetline was, with woodies, trucks, 2 & 4door versions, coupes, sedans, and cabriolets. I had no idea Chevys were so varied or offered such fancy versions of the whole line. That car is a real find. I hope they treat it with respect. A brilliant shiny paint would be gorgeous.

There is no real method for making a Rat. Different approaches to say the least. It will be one fast mover when they are finished, how it will look? Anyone's guess.

Yes, absolutely! This thing has real character.
