Not trying to start any kind of political stuff, but the oil companies, the auto companies and all the rich politicians that get money from those industries may have something to say about this. Who really runs this country?????????????????

The people? We just got over ruled in a presidential race for the second time in 20 years or so. Most people want to protect the climate and air, but the US has pulled out of the Paris climate accords. What is good for mankind is really only what big business says is good for America.

No axe to grind over the recent election, I felt neither candidate was worthy of a vote!!

Imagine a 500 mile road trip where you are forced to stop every 200 miles and wait for at least two hours before continuing, IF no one else is at the charging station. Now a 7 hour trip is 11 hours minimum.

And by the way, remember how that electricity is generated. A hot day causes brownouts now. Where is the capacity?

Politics aside, it's not practical for large geographies. If a city wants to do it, well.....Minneapolis had all electric transport in the early 1900s and politics killed that too. What goes around......

Carrying the stored energy in the form of batteries can pose a problem. While liquid fuel seems to be more user friendly.

Great improvements are being made in emissions. Stand behind a 65 Mustang and you can smell the fumes, while a modern car is much better. Fuel economy is growing as well. My Ram truck gets 20 MPG!

My prediction is that fossil fuel cars will improve as fast or faster than electric cars, and we will be diving 100 MPG cars with 900 horsepower someday.

I'm hoping the electric take over is still some time away as I've never owned a V8 and always wanted to and lately almost have my wife convinced that a 2004 Holden Monaro would be a fine vehicle to own and compliment our MX5 quite nicely.

Don't worry Wobble, the V-8's will be around for quite awhile. There are even people who still get around with a primitive, old-school technique called walking.

I am happy to see alternative forms of energy finally getting some traction. As fossil fuels are the hydrocarbon building block for all things plastic, the world's need for oil far exceed its use as a fuel.

Back when I was a kid the City of Edmonton and Calgary had electric trolley buses. Chances are most Canadian cites had electric buses in the early 60's. Too bad all that electrical infrastructure was dismantled. We could use it now. Politics though is what it is.

Don't want to get too political about global warming other then to point out North Korea, Solar flares and asteroids. :o

The world has changed in ways no one could have ever imagined just 50 years ago. If you were to make a timeline on the history of civilization there has been more advancements in the last 50 years than there there in the previous 200,000 combined. This is because of computers, the internet and the ability to store and share data and information with lightening speed. Is everyone going to be flying an electric, "Jetsons" type car by 2020? Probably not. But transportation is going to change in amazing ways in the next 25 years and to deny that would be foolish IMO.
