TGIF - Great Weekend Ahead

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Fri May 26, 2017 6:19 am

Another week in the books. This weekend is a very special one of course, but even more so for us.

Our son "little Harry" is arriving from his home base with new grand baby in tow:). Also have Our youngest boy Anthony in town and it will be a big reunion come Saturday :flags-waveusa:

Expect plenty of food pics :D

Might get some trigger time of course. But with all of them rarely in the same spot, no telling what mischief awaits.

Hope all of you have a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend.

Sounds like some family fun Harry! We will be cooking Saturday, and running the road course Monaco style, Sunday if time permits will be Indy on the Oval. running 1/32 Indy cars, as I don't have my 1/24 cars ready yet.
should be a lot of fun.
Hope all have a great Memorial Weekend!

Aw gee, I've got to go to a wedding this weekend, where the wife gets to stay behind, (she traded me off for a dog, chicken, and a squirrel). May not sound like much of a weekend but I'll be going back to where i grew up, about a hundred miles north west of Indy so I won't get to watch the race live this year. Plus the worst part is I'll being flying into Chicago. Anyway I'll make the best of it and probably won't get to play with any slots, just read a slot magazine. Hope everyone has a happy memorial day to remember those Vets from WWI and all other Vets from years later.

Mix my own seasoning rub. You know it's the start of summer when it's time to reload.

This is the weekend my wife and I woulda been at the campground starting the season. They always had a flag and memorial thing on Monday.
I miss the times with her doing those things . A simpler time.

I was raised with the real commemorative day, May 30th. That was the day each year when we went to two graveyards to leave flowers and small flags for members of my family, killed in the Civil War (one on each side, cousins). When the holiday became a remembrance of all killed in wars in the US forces, there were two more graves to visit, the result of WWII. By the end of the Vietnam War, there was one more. My boys were aged just right to miss war entirely, for which I am eternally grateful, and so, thousands of miles from the graves I visited into mid-adulthood, I do some little something each year, anonymously, remembering what my blood has given to this nation. I only mention it to my HRW bros because there are no flowers on the graves of my family any more, no one to remember who they were, who their children and children's children were, nor how their family suffered for their loss. So I cook fun food for my neighbors, and strive to make smiles among the living.

Sunday morning I will watch Monaco Formula One, at noon Indy, and in the afternoon, NASCAR. Monday I will rest, and wonder at the sacrifice that brave idealistic boys made, and hope (nay, pray) that we are worth it.
