What settings are you using to get such great shots?

Nice photos. The '40 Ford (or Willys?) is very, very nice. Brumos, aperture (the opening in the lens) is the primary control when setting depth-of-field. But, the focal length of the lens is also important for depth-of-field settings. A long focus lens (telephoto) will give you a shallower depth-of-field than a wide angle lens, at the same aperture setting. With a lower ISO, the camera will require a larger aperture for proper exposure so that too helps to control depth-of-field. It is much harder to get a shallow depth-of-field with a camera that has a sensor smaller than a full frame 35mm camera. The instant feedback from a digital camera is invaluable. But, as Shotgun has shown, it can be done, and done well.

Nice pics, Dave; gives it a motion realism that you can't capture in a static shot. :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup:

I used to be able to "stop" the wheels on F1 cars at Grand Prix races like Montreal, with a shutter speed of 1/1000; but that was back in the silver halide days......... Have you checked out the effects with a faster shutter speed?

Actually the second shot is really nice too. I quite like the way the rear wheels are lined up with the glare from the rails. It almost looks like contrails! That car looks like it is BLAZING around the track.
