I have spent a lot of time going through websites that deal with painting figures trying to up my game in that direction and there's a lot to be learned by studying that soldier diarama stuff.

San Antonio is a cool town. Lots to see like The Buckhorn Tavern which is one of the places Teddy Roosevelt used for recruiting Rough Riders. No wonder it too so long to get there. Tejas is big ain't it?

Once in a while, I look on Ebay for 1/32nd cowboys (Marx made them in the 50s), so I can put cowboy hat wearing boys with cigarettes rolled up in their T-shirt sleeves in a hot rod or old jalopy. A little paint, a little carving, and in no time, you can put a farm boy behind the wheel. I learned the paint techniques from HRW members, but I'm getting a little old for that tiny stuff. Still fun to try now and then.

Many times I have stopped by that military figure store in the wonderful Menger Hotel near the Alamo. Always admire the dioramas and the paintwork. The Menger Hotel is one of the primary recruiting places for Teddy Roosevelt to get his Roughriders. The Magnabraid guy has a large track in the Wonderland Mall there just inside Interstate 410 loop that is fun to drive. Has 'Magna' in the title of the shop.
