TGIF! The "Season" is near

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Fri Sep 09, 2016 8:35 am

On my drive to work today, the colors of the trees are starting to turn. That means Fall is inching closer and with it comes the onslaught of new toys many of us have waited for all year.

New releases are coming at a faster pace and pretty soon too fast for me to keep up with :)

After this past weekend of fun, The Skunkworks was cleaned up and now is a mess again thanks to work on another body. Somehow I can really make a mess of a clean workbench in a hurry doing that.

Last weekend was a reminder of what this hobby is all about. The simple fun this hobby can deliver when you get the chance to race with friends. The camaraderie among us thanks to these little cars never ceases to amaze me.

Hope all of you have a great weekend and get some trigger time.

Putting a rebuilt transmission in the Road Runner tomorrow at work. Got to take advantage of the lifts! The transmission guy at work helped me with the rebuild and I modified the valve body myself. Putting in a B&M converter too. Also I will be working on a routed track that I bought off a friend. More on that latter! :D

Yes it is the official start of the "Slot Car Season" now that Labor Day has passed. I started our little group of racers to have some fun during the "dark months". You know, the time when the nights get longer and longer. One thing I have learned after trying to run a proxy through the summer... DON'T! Summer is just too busy with all sorts of stuff that takes time away from slot cars. Race on into that sweet night. (apologies to Billy S.)

Its still hot as hades here, but showing signs of letting up. Temps in the shop still hover over a hundred after work. Looking forward to some cooler weather, and some racing time! Most of my "other" projects are almost done, so it may be back to slotworld soon!!!!

Well we really dodged a bullet last night.
Tornadoes all around us with heavy rain and even some hail.
5 miles west got hit with a tornado and then North and east of me.
The rain revealed my basement fix is ok. But i could see a problem area in the window wells , so i will get covers for them.
Today 18c and sunny. I only suffered a powere outage for about 2 hrs but the village west of us was out for 8 hrs and had evacuations from gas leaks.
Who ever said close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades can add Tornadoes to,the list.
