So what's cookin' folks?

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Wed Nov 21, 2012 7:22 am

Ok Chef's...what is on the menu for tomorrow?

Doing a ham on the smoker here. Nothing seems to have that flavor like one of these slow rolling on the old grill.

Green bean casserole, deviled eggs, The General's Taters...plus assorted cheese and sausages for early snacking.

Can't wait!

I'm afraid that I'm an eater, not a cooker. So my wife and I will head to my uncle's place and devour whatever is on hand!

Well I have the 'basics menu' for tomorrow.

I get to cook the turkey, "stressing" (half the stuffing is cooked inside the turkey, the other half is not) and the gravy.

The turkey has just spent the night sitting @225 in my slow cooker. Then it will spend a few hours on the grill with applewood chips in the smoker and being basted with apple juice.

My "stressing" is a cornbread based recipe with pecans, Kon-Riko Pecan rice, onions, carrots, celery and sausage cooked into it. Been making it like that for 39 years now. Everyone likes it. Since I normally make up enough to go around and then have some later, unless I have a 50 pound turkey, I can not get all of it into the bird.

Everyone have a wonderful, safe, enjoyable Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. Spend your time with friends and family, watch the Macy's Day Parade, football games and just enjoy!

Don't forget our servicemen, they are on duty to make sure you can enjoy your day tomorrow.

The turkey will be in the brine by 2pm today, sweet potato casserole with pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, corn pudding, whipped white potatoes, home made yeast rolls, home made relishes, my grandmother's recipe dressing, copper penny, sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, lemon cake, caramel pie, and a big quiche for breakfast Thursday morning with leeks, bacon, swiss cheese, and nutmeg.

I promised I would take a picture of my grandmother's dressing, and sure enough, this year it isn't as pretty as usual. It sure tastes pretty!
