Carrera Brumos Porsche GT3..Hooters added!

Postby Cincyslots » Wed Oct 24, 2012 6:28 am

Well after a year I finally got around to doing the Brumos Porsche. While it came out OK, Pattos decals strikes again. The only decal I was worried was the hood. I had the cut the decals and was afraid it would rip and not come out right. Well the decal came out great.......until I sprayed the clear. The only decal that wrinkled was the hood. I put 2 coats of Tamiya clear before I sprayed the entire car. Any suggestions would help.

Bruce,
The car looks great. I have found with Pattos decals the only clear spray I can get to work with them is Krylon. All the other clear's Tamiya, Testors, etc are all too hot and make them wrinkle. The krylon paint is pretty good for a easy one or two color job.

Great job Bruce! I really like the Jagermeister version you did as well.

Keep up the good work!

Sucks about the hood decal but it still looks good IMO. Get those mirrors back on it and go racing!

Thanks, Nothing planned at the moment. Since it's rumored that I like drink Jager and Coke on occasion I was thinking of doing a combo Jager/Coke car. I doubt it will be anytime soon.

I was offered big bucks for the Jager but I just couldn't let it go.

I've never had good luck out of the krypton finish, it always gave me a cloudy clear looking finish. Although I have seen others get good results. If I'm gonna run the car the future is the way to go but if putting it over white be sure to get a fresh bottle of future to make sure it doesn't yellow.

Looks good though even with the wrinkled decal

Hey, I found the Krylon at my local Hardware. The can reads everything as the photo above except that my, no jokes here, balls are clear and not the colored ones like above. i assume this is the same stuff.

Bruce, I am biting my tongue so hard it is bleeding!

Seriously, I have 2 cans of the stuff and it appears they changed the packaging....don't know which one is old and which is new. I use it on the decals I make..much cheaper and better spray nozzle than the Testors decal clear coat.

LOL, I'm sure you are. Thank for the info. I plan on using it Wednesday on a Hooters car I'm making.
