Finally! I finished something!
I've had these three cars languishing for years awaiting a repaint. I decided to go with a privateer look for these three - mainly as I wanted to do them fast, use the decals I had on hand, and try a few different colors.
Spririt BMW 2002 - A neighbor in Germany had a BMW in this color - almost a light battleship gray - no metallic flake. Loved it. I stripped it in 91% alcohol, and painted it with Duplicolor primer and then clear-coated over the primer. Decals are a mixture of left-overs in my box.
Scalextric Escort #1 - I stripped it with 91% rubbing alcohol and repainted with Duplicolor Deep Cranberry Metallic over Duplicolor primer and and then clear-coated with Duplicolor clear. Decals are also a mixture of left-overs in my box.
Scalextric Escort #2 - I stripped it with 91% rubbing alcohol and repainted with Testors Go Mango lacquer over Duplicolor primer and and then clear-coated with Duplicolor clear. I used Tamiya tape to two tone the car and used Duplicolor flat black for the hood and grille. Decals are a mixture of left-overs in my box.
Escort and Spirit chassis prepped: Weight added, wires trimmed, electronics removed, tires and wheels trued. They run very well on my wood track, but the motors are a bit nuts for cars this size. Upcoming plans are to install M/T Resins' motors in all three cars.
Slowly building my U2L field! I've got a Fly Alfa in the stages of a repaint as well.
