Removing chrome from plastic

Postby nhdungeonracer » Wed Feb 15, 2017 11:11 am

When working with models, one often gets a "tree" of chrome parts.

What's the best way to remove the chrome so I can repaint the part the color I want?

Found my answer over on modelcarmags forum

Castrol Super Cleaner, Purple Power, oven cleaner, ammonia are common ways to remove the chrome... :D

I found that house hold ammonia works very quickly to remove it. I had a couple chrome HO bodies I submerged in a glass of it and it took less than 15 minutes from start to finish.
