Ok as most of you know I build alot of Vintage stockcars & transam racers. Usually I reach for a can of High gloss clear. I use Tamiya TS13 on everything. The shine you get is great, very nice finish. But I got to thinking & back in the day in the 50s, 60s & early 70s I dont think they used any clear at all on racecars. So for my last stockers I built which was Pettys 1962 Plymouth & Brooks 1970 Superbird I used a satin clear. I think this looks way better. Obviously not exactly right but at least it protects the decals & paintwork when its flying around the track. In all honesty I would prefer to not clear them at all as they will look more accurate but I dont think the cars will look very good for to long.
Has anyone got any opinions on clear coats for darkside stockers & T/As? Gloss, satin, matt or no clear?
