NSR P68 project

Postby ListerStormGT » Mon Oct 05, 2015 11:31 am

I have been working on this car the last few weeks as time allows. Painted in Duplicolor light metallic blue. 15x8 and 15x10 CB Design 5 spokes painted red and the wheel edges scraped to look polished. Just started on the decals. This is how it stands for now. More to come...

Looks very nice.

What's the history behind the Ford P68 anyway? I was so caught up in the GT-40 racing of that time that I never got any real understanding of the P68. I know that the Ford factory team was disbanded at the end of '67 (Henry II apparently felt confident that he had beaten Enzo thoroughly in '66 and '67), and I know that they changed the motor regs to 3.0L for 1968. But, that's as much as I know.

Alan, you did not miss much, that was about what you need to know about the P68. In 1968 it was a prototype by Ford. It had a couple of pole positions, but never finished a race. Some nice info here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_P68

Never the less the P68 made out to be a very nice and fast slot car.

Here's a brief but interesting history of the cars.

Thanks for the links, Gavin and Waay.

It would have been fun to see another round of Ford vs. Ferrari with the P68 against the 312PB...................and idea which, by the way, gives me another idea for the upcoming Ford-Ferrari Wars proxy!!!

Yup, it would.................................and yes, the would be.

No reason that we can't see a few P68s going against 312 PBs in the upcoming Ford-Ferrari Wars proxy........

Great looking car. The red wheels really make it pop. Jim
