I can't believe I started this back in 2013. This set has fought me all the way but I think Im on the home run with it, the Dodge at least. The paint was a nightmare but its come up great. The Aqua is Model Master Enamel which has been wet sanded & polished, no clear coat. The white is Tamiya with clear coat. Still a few minor body details to finish up. The interior is getting close & the chassis is finished, apart from the tires which I am waiting for Urethane. The driver was a challenge as the interior is so shallow but after some hacking he fits. Hope to finish these next week.

Feels great to get back into UFOs (Un-Finished Objects), with fresh eyes, doesn't it? Between you and me, we'll be posting cars that started quite a ways back! Did I mention that a neighbor of ours when I was a boy (1950s), had a '56 DeSoto? Imagine this car with even more chrome!

More Chrome? Damn! The Dodge was a foiler's paradise or nightmare, depending on how you look at it! Ive got a 56 Desoto in my stash to do, so something to look forward to. Ive got 5 more UFO's to finish after these few Im working on.

The Dodge is done baby! Man what a ride building this model. I truely am surprised this ones done. Started in 2013, finished 2017. 4 years is quick right? Hands down this has been the hardest build for me ever. I am happy with the finished car even though it didn't play nice from the start. I built a brass chassis years ago for it so I went with that. I didn't want to loose the interior detail so I put the motor behind the rear axle. I do hope it runs ok, otherwise Ill put a new chassis under it. H&R wheels cut down, H&R Hawk motor, my cast urethane whitewalls. Im planning to make a video to share of this cruising the track. Now to get the Shasta finished!

This car looks great - building realistic and unusual subjects it's a really cool part of the hobby.

There is probably no end to the different cars that can be built using your approach - the chassis is very adaptable, and allows full interior etc.

Btw, where is that driver figure from?

You guys are to kind, thanks for the comments. I just hope it runs ok. The thing is a tank weighing in at 300grams, just hope that tiny Hawk motor has enough torque to pull it around the track.

The driver figure is from Scale Equipment Ltd - http://www.seltd.net I think the figure was called Ralph. I modified it, cut off all his limbs & reglued to get the figure in. Yes you are right, the possibilities are endless with what you can build. The motor position was just an experiment to see how it handles with the motor behind the axle.

Dave, Im actually going to give this genre a rest & build a few rounds rounders with numbers. I haven't built a race car in a long time & Ive got the itch to build something different.
