I usually use wall plugs glued to the under side of the body. Then use screws, screwed through the chassis into the plugs. It works for me & cheap.

There are lots of ways to do this, apart from the regular central posts:

1. Pins, like the 1/24 scale commercial cars:





2. Countersunk holes for flat-head scews on the sides that screw into plastic tube in the body:





3. Screws through the side pans that screw into a threaded plate that is stuck to the body sides via some dense foam:
