Grandsport Corvette

Picked up an Accurate miniatures kit the other day, box was trashed, but the model was still in plastic and untouched. That put the price down far enough to make a great slot car, since we really only use a small portion of the kit itself. Anyway, I built a brass Frankenstein chassis out of old H&R parts, and brass tubing. Motor is a 21,500 FK I had laying around. gears are cox 9/31, tires are my own Goodyear logo urethanes, guide is parma with soft braid, and wheels are a mix of H&R and pro trac, inserts from the kit. Some small details left, but it runs great, and looks good to me.

Fantastic looking slot car. One is on my to-do list. I picked up an Accurate Miniatures kit from e-bay some time ago when they were going for $7.

I love the look of the driver. Just having him glancing to one side and showing a little dirt really animates him and brings the car to life. A lot of drivers look lifeless, but this guy looks real and makes the entire car look more real as a result. Tires and wheels also look realistic, and the paint and decals are spot on. And now I realize I have to paint my track.......................

Looks good.

Same buy strategy for slot car conversion. As long as the body, glass, lenses and dash are there, it works for me. Wheels to be turned down to inserts are a bonus.
