Looking for some recommendations for purchasing sheet brass on-line for 1:32 chassis building. Also what thickness/gauge should I be considering for a basic flat type chassis with cutout for after market motor mount?

Others here have more experience building 1/32 cars than I do, so I'll defer your thickness question for them to answer. But a possible source for sheet brass is a door's brass kick panel. Home centers often sell scratched ones at discounted prices. You might even find them on eBay.

For 1/32 scale I don't think you'd need anything thicker than .032". Go on Ebay and type in K&S brass sheets or any hobby shop or Hobby Lobby should have it.
Here's a link to a seller on Ebay. I'm not recommending this seller just pointing him out.

Bob, did you get the brass you need? Do you have a local Ace Hardware store? Many of them will carry K&S brass & piano wire. Hobby Lobby might have it too, though I tend to find their prices high.

My local hobby shop carries many K&S products, but they are not great about keeping the bins filled. My local hardware store carries just about all of the K&S products. McMaster-Carr would be another source of sheet brass for scratch building.

Local Hobby shops and Hardware stores often have K&S stands, but these are sometimes not well stocked.
Slot Car Corner maintain stocks of .032 brass strip and all the tubing sizes you might need.
Some industrial metal supply stores also have K&S stands, so they are worth a try too, and there you may find some offcuts of brass sheet in different thicknesses.
I use everything from .010 to .062 in building 1/32 frames, and widths from 1/4" to 1", it all depends on the design and the weight you want. The industrial thicknesses like .040 and .050 are very useful in that regard.
