Scratch building is?................LIFE!!!!!

I've had a bit of a hiatus this summer, due to some life circumstances but I'm still here! And scratch building really is life! I like a good RTR car as much as the next guy but scratch building my own is where it's at for me!

Some great examples here.

Here is my attempt at a 1/32 complete scratch built other then prime running gear

I was finding the Porsche 718 hard to find so taking a page out of Clive's book, I whittled one.

Soldered up a brass frame

Motor is a generic 130 type that I checked the rpm out to ensure it was running under the limit allowed

Made up resin wheel inserts, and decals on my laser Jet printer

This was built for the Porsche/Ford Proxy war and is sitting with Allen as we wait the start.
Cheers

What do you think of those motors like the one you've got in the Porsche Barc? I've used them in a couple of SCX cars and they've totally transformed them. For one thing I don't have to wait 'til halfway through the race for the motor to warm up to perform as it should.

They seem OK to me, and they work for my needs. I guess we will see how it does in this proxy. I am not hoping for much. If it gets me Midpack then it will have done its job. On my track at home it does about as good as a Piranha, maybe not as tourqy, making it easier to drive.
Cheers
