1966 Eldon Ferrari p3 Finished!

Postby btaylor » Fri Aug 11, 2017 4:43 am

I have had a few of these bodies around for a while now. I wanted to build an early (66) P3 that didn't have the shark vents behind the rear wheels. I think this Eldon body can be made to look the part pretty well. It will be red of course, and plans call for full lighting and clear glass (vac formed from the original smoke version). So far it is a parts box build, and actually runs quite well. The chassis is my old stand by Artin, cut down to fit the body. Wheels are Cartrix BMW. They look pretty close to the thick 5 spoke wheels on the 1:1 car. they will be gold centered. axles are slot it,motor is a Ninco I believe, it checked at around 17,00 rpm, and runs close times to my others in this series. Tires for now are a mix of silicone fronts, and rubber Monogram rear. I will be replacing them with PG tires. Its already a fun car to run, so it should be a nice addition when finished.

That's a good one there Bob. Good old Artin chassis to the rescue again eh?

I'll be watching, as I have the same body and was wondering what to do with it. I've already completed the Eldon 906. BTW the 3D printed universal chassis fits the existing mounts on most Eldon, Monogram, and Revell bodies without modification.

Love seeing this..Always had a soft spot for the Eldon range. Those would have been my slot cars if I had had a set in the 60's/70's...We put some Eldon bodies on some black widow Scaley NASCARS chassis several years back when those were cheap and easy to find....

Waiting on some clear sheets to vac form the new glass, but its done, and a runner. lights work great, and the car fits right in with my Others.
