49 Ford build

Postby tin_indians » Sun May 14, 2017 12:42 am

While waiting for the decals I ordered for the '55 Chev, I decided I could start on the '49 Ford Tudor. Holding the wheel beside the body to get an idea how much body to cut away..it struck me, what would it look like with the tires inside the fenders?
Well, this build will keep the stock fenders but the body will ride LOWWWWW. Gonna go for the slammed bagger look. Ultimately I know it can't ride this low cause the tires will rub on the rear window pillars. But it'll be close to this. (I hope)
Using 15x8 chromed steelies from SCC on PG urethanes.
The tire placement is close to that of a Scaley F1 car. Narrow track with a long wheelbase. If it won't corner coz the wheel stance is too narrow, pfftt....I'll rag out the wheel wells and put longer axles on with fatty rims and tires ala modified.

Ok, I crushed the build into 2 days..(pissed off the ol' lady doing it) It sports a Harry style chassis, and YES this time I made a slip fit frame
It doesn't sit much differently from the rough setting before I built the chassis.
Piranha motor, slot It gears, axles, guide. CB 15x8 steelies, PG urethane tires. Professor Motor engine mount.

:laughing-rolling: I do believe you are correct Dariusz.
I'm waiting for the '57 Ford to arrive in the mail...oh, and I just won another auction of 5 models for $10. The one out of the five I really want is the '57 Chevy. Gonna do it up like the '55 and paint it Nancy's favorite color...

Got the '49 done as far as its going to go. Its not a racer, just a cruiser. Couldn't find flame decals so I shot the whole car Tamiya pearl green, then shot Tamiya yellow from the front towards the back to give me a "flame" look...lol
