Lotus 33 proxy build...updated, series results/pictures!!

Gidday folks,....this build is for a proxy that is for GP cars that ran in the 1967 season.......unfortunately, it will only get coverage on another forum, but, I know a few folks here are building for this series, so , a few pics. may give someone a few ideas/inspiration.

The body started life as a Monogram Lotus 25 (a Holy Grail car to many), and it will need a few modifications to turn it into a 33, the main one being replacing the "high" exhausts, with "low" exhausts.........this was my main reason for doing the transformation, as "high" (unprotected) exhausts, make me very nervous on a proxy car ;)

Anyway, as you can see in the pics., I have a long way to go to get the body ready. (The 3 ear knockoffs were done with one of the Molotow "Liqiud Chrome " marker pens, and if you have not tried one of these......you should!!!. There is a review of these pens in the News/Reviews section).

The chassis is a much modified Beardog 3, and initial testing has been very promising......this proxy allows any FF050 motor, and I have used a stock Scaley......on the tracks we will be running on , it will be more than enough!! The wheels are double flanged 13" from RSSLOT, shod with some old vintage tires on the front and some left over Darts' on the rear.
A few more final details to be finished, ....and a little fooling around with lead,.. but, the chassis is essentially done.

Hi Folks,.......Still a long way to go, but, I did manage to get the body painted with Tamiya "Racing Green", and have applied the decals that were supplied by Indycals. Michael (Indycals) has a new process..printer and or ink , that is a real improvement....the yellow on the stripes/pinstripes is very solid, and the colour is spot on. If you have not tried his decals, I for one can highly recommend them :clap:

There is still some Solvaset residue on the body which needs to be cleaned up, and a clear coat (semi gloss) applied..........as well as a ton of detail painting, transmisson, mirrors, etc. etc. to be done........but, as this proxy is a while away, I do have time.

Well, progress has been slow, but, I am getting there.

I do have a few weeks left before the cars line up for the first race in this proxy, so , I should be able to finish and install the transmission/gearbox bits that must be on the car......fingers crossed!
