Lola T160 build 3

Postby VTECFOUR » Mon Oct 03, 2016 4:31 pm

I usually choose the body and then build a chassis but this one's the reverse.

A used purchase provided a motor bracket and guide tongue for the basis of one of my adjustable wheelbase chassis.

I thought I'd have to cover it with a mid to large body but one of my small favorites, a Lola T160 would just fit.

So, here we go.

Very nice. Always love Can Am variations so I am following this with interest!
What motor goes under that resin?

Running chassis's done with a bias towards heft compared to my earlier Lola lightweights.

Parts at hand from the bin include:

Motor - NSR King 21K boxer motor
Pinion/crown gears - SCX Pro 9t/Slot It offset 27t
Front wheels/tires - Slot It 15 x 8/Slot It stock
Rear wheels/tires - Slot It 17 x 8/ Paul Gage 22166
Guide/braid - Sloting Plus/Slot It

Running car with interior, paint and wheel inserts to come, weighs in already at 111g compared to my completed 84g - 86g T160s.

That's a heavy car in my fleet. This wasn't detrimental though as it falls in the middle for fastest lap among my now three T160 builds.

Pleased with the performance outcome. Cosmetic work next.

It's a beauty Dan. When will we be able to race against it?

Cheers,

Didn't like the heavy feel of this small car at 111g so I replaced and built one of my slimline chassis.

Much better driveability at 94g knocking off fastest lap by at least a tenth.

Learned a lesson on this build.
