As this'll be more of a road racer on tracks with significant elevation changes, I added .064 chassis side pans to help handling.

That's another 20g, so the car weighs a whopping 117g before interior tray and paint. Motor and gear ratio changes to come.

Got a pleasant surprise with the model kit's wheels being easily adapted to inserts.

Image

They fit with a simple 9/64" drilling to slip into the 17" Slot It rim inner hubs.

Look just fine.

Outstanding. Yes, those inserts were always a welcome surprise. I think you will have a serious contender here.

Been a year since I've done anything on this build.

Chassis turned out to be twisted, so I totally rebuilt it. The Professor Motor bracket's pre-machined flanks accepting round or square brass main rails didn't match hence different rail planes. A bit of filing fixed that and the 3/32" square main rails were replaced with 1/8". The guide tongue was kept but everything else is new. This was a chance to try out a Piranha motor so that was installed keeping the 3:1 gear ration with 9t pinion and 27t crown gears.

I've now gone for more of a street look so the body's been lowered. Smaller front tires have been mounted to accentuate that look.

Will run this in our American Iron class at GVSCC.

Love it VTECFOUR, a good 55 is hard to ignore.

I contacted Revell a couple of years ago to find out if there were any plans to re-release these and the kind gentleman told me not to hold my breath. Shame really.

Want to use as much of the kit's interior tray, so had to make way for the motor and chassis's main rails by cutting the back seat and floor.

Was able to rout the extended guide wires through the transmission tunnel.

Going well.
