Here is another old hammer that has been neglected far too long.



Yes, far too long. Chassis is cracked, so is glass. Glass will run as is, sort of like the look :). Will go SCC Steely 17's and full Slot.it rear end as I have no other gear worth putting on it.
Front end I have spares, will repaint.

Body is rough. Gave it a bath and I should touch up the bumpers...but not sure. Sort of like the old warrior's looks as is. Will polish it up and decide.

Curly isn't too happy with me taking away from his collection...but I did make a New Year resolution. :whistle:

Yes, I know you are waiting with baited breath for the next installment. Calm down adoring fans, it's time for an update :confusion-waiting:



This old chassis has a crack in it right where the bushing sets.



I held it back in place and used Super Glue to hold it. Then used a very thin section of styrene plastic over it. I sanded the section first to score it so the glue had more to bite into.



Did the backside too. I made the braces low enough so the bushing flanges would clear.

Now to clean up these bushing mounts and get our new bushings in place.

Doing the few things the rules will allow (as I like it), on the Mini for Bruce's Cincy Proxy, I have been thinking a lot about the many cars I have neglected, and the ones no one else around here cares to race. I figure I can swap out these cars that never do anything for fancy parts for my favorites, and come out much happier with both situations. Frankly, I can't wait to get started.

Try running one of those dremel lawnmower blade sharpeners (like you get in the SCC bushing alignment kits) through the bushing holes first. My guess is that if it cracked maybe the hole was a little small/tight.

Hopefully this helps as I know the earlier Carrera has a different bushing, but I think the diameter is the same.

Nice fix on the cracked chassis. I've had that happen, but didn't use super glue as the plastic on chassis' is a different breed. I used PVC cement with the styrene patches which really bites into the chassis plastic. The cement is the same stuff you use on plastic PVC pipes. It's cheap too and can be purchased a lot of places around town. :)

This one took awhile, but got'r done.



Chassis was cracked up front too. Found that out fitting the B-Nova. After all the glue and styrene were added, it took a good sanding to get the body to sit right and to get the front axle to ride correctly. I sanded out the front bushing mounts and just let the axle "float" while on the setup block and then glued in place.

SCC 17x8 Steelies, PG 22155 tires, Slot.it 27 Crwon and 9 tooth pinion. Stock motor.

The old fox is back though, ready for action.

Oh no. Do they still make that stuff? I suppose people still need to strip paint off steel from time to time.

What did you do with the balance, Harry? I always had trouble getting the Torinos to balance weight for good handling.

Well, I lowered it a little in back. Just shaved the rear mounts flush with the bumper tabs. This really helps, even though it is only a little.

The big thing with the Fords is something Cheater showed me a long time ago: Open up those screw holes! They molded them slightly off and this causes a bad tweak in the chassis. Once you free it up, then the car starts to act right :)
